Question by Chellebelle: I put in a very small garden area around my lamppost and need landscape edging ideas.?
It’s a small circular area, the flowers I planted are low profile, so bricks and stone are out of the question and it has to be something that can easily be mowed around. I’ve used seashells before, but these groundskeepers would destroy anything like that. Any suggestions?

My wife suffered sexual abuse when she was about 6 years old.
She was abused by married adult man, a working colleague of her mother.
My wife and her parents occasionally went to visit the family of that man, and she played in the his house garden with his children. In those circumstances mentioned man, occasionally touched her intimate organs, she was confused, did not understand what she is going trough, finally began to feel very strange, she felt that this was very bad and that she shouldn’t come there anymore, since than she boycotted all visits. It seems after that, she managed to suppress violence, probably because of all that feelings of guilt, sadness and shame , so she decided not to say anyone, anything about it. It’s been a few years ago, she entered the teenage period, and one day suddenly without any explanation she suddenly started to cry, and all bad memories came back. Some time after she had a boyfriend, but she refused to have sexually intercourse with him, since she’s raised as devoted Catholic (same as me). He constantly urged her to have sex, but rarely managed to show before her any emotions, they had long term nonproductive relationship, all went very cold, but no one had strength to end the relationship, he became occasionally crude, and she secretly started seeing another boyfriend , but eventually she broke up with both. When she met me, she was very introverted, the years pass before she could fully open up, and tell what happened to her in childhood, but still today she doesn’t like to talk about it. From the seemingly unclear reasons, she have a sudden fit of anger and rage, even she hit me, all that often end up by her sobbing if I insisted to talk about that sudden rage and that strange reaction of her.
Additional facts: se doesn’t like to wear short clothes and does not feel good in mini skirts, avoiding clothing that emphasizes the chest and legs, sometimes does not like touches and generally sensitive to touch, sometimes avoiding kissing and sex.

What do you think about all this, how can I help her, why does she have fits of anger, what to do?
She think she don’t need to seek some professional help, and she relies all her hopes in prayer.

Please don’t tell me to divorce her, that is not even option, since I love her very much.

When you have a leak, call a plumber.

When something is broken inside, call a therapist.

She needs professional counseling. You’ve done a magnificent job up to this point, but the next step requires psychological assistance.

Give her courage, help her face her demons, and get her some counseling.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a container or pot to grow garden peas in?
Also do they need some kind of support while they grow upward? If so what can i use to support them?
I have no experience with growing peas, or anything in that matter. I’m only a 16 year old who has to grow garden peas for a biology project. Any suggestions or tips?

Peas send down deep roots and need something to climb around. Get a tall pot – go for more height and less width if you have to choose where to spend money. And make sure there are some drainage holes in the bottom: peas like water but no-one likes to spend their lives with permanently wet toes (or roots). How big a pot depends on how many you grow. I’d suggest a 10″ minimum height and about a 2″ to 3″ cylinder for each seed (so you can probably get three seeds in a 7″ diameter pot).

Then you’ll want some support and what you choose depends on what you want to spend, how you want it to look, where you live and how many you’re growing. Here is a fairly basic suggestion: three poles, each about 3 feet long. Fasten them tight together at the top and spread the bottoms around the pot – stuck in the compost is best (before the seeds go in: don’t want to bash any tender roots) but you could fix them around the outside with gaffer tape or similar. You’re aiming for a wigwam. Then wind string or thin wire around the poles, fixing it tight every so often – this is what the peas will cling to so it has to be able to take the weight of all those pods.

Once you’ve got the container and the wigwam ready, plant the seeds. A quick Google will tell you more than you ever need to know about growing them! The most important thing is moisture: too much and they’ll just go mouldy (especially at the start when germinating), too little and they’ll wilt and die. Keep the compost so that if you sat on it, you’d get a damp butt but not a muddy one. If you can plant 4 seeds, try soaking 2 of them for 12-24 hours in clean water before planting and see whether they show leaf any sooner than the two you just plant as they are. And don’t expect speed – I planted some on March 31st and they are still less than 3″ above the compost. But once they are up and fruiting, those peas are just SOOOO sweet!

buy a soil testing kit to see what the levels of things are in your soil, you should get a guide as to how high or low levels in the soil should be, this will give you an idea
