How to Grow your own Herbs

Your very own herb garden is as simple as one pot! Start by choosing herbs to grow that will best serve your needs, Thyme is a creeper and grows low so it could be a nice match with taller growing herbs like basil or sage. We recommend a deep, large pot that has a drainage hole (we prefer ceramic pots which hold moisture). Fill to top with fertilized potting soil (about 2 /12 inches from the top) and insert your herbs. Be sure to give each herb a couple of inches between one another, so they can spread and grow. Place in a sunny spot on your patio or deck and enjoy the benefits of your one pot, herb garden! Any tips for growing herbs in a garden?

herbs to grow in the garden by jo-h

Question by : Any tips for growing herbs in a garden? Well, I’m new to gardening, but I’ve read a lot of books about it and i think I know the basics.. I love cooking and feel it would be awesome to grow my own fresh herbs to use in some of my dishes. A few herbs I plan on growing are mint, rosemary, catnip, and sage. I’ve purchased the seeds, but I’m not so sure as to how to plant them. I’ve also purchased a few large bins filled with soil and compost. Could someone tell me if it’s necessary to germinate my seeds, and if it is how to go through with it? Also, how should I harvest them, and dry them? Thank you so much :)

Q&A: Slip and Fall lawsuit in Olive Gardne….?

Question by phil c: Slip and Fall lawsuit in Olive Gardne….? My 59 year old mother fell in front of Olive Garden rest. just about when she is entering the door this past saturday. The reason she fell was because of how the design was for the walk way. There were little bumpy rocks sticking out of it. She was walking, tripped on the rocks that were sticking out and fell on her left knee. The manager came out filed the report and called the ambulance for her. He said an Olive Garden insurance agent will contact her the next day and they are willing to pay for her medical bills. After the doctor, she realized she need surgery on her left knee to find out that she have a broken knee cap. (no knee or leg issues before) Now she can not walk or work for at least 2 to 3 months. So I would like Olive Garden to not only pay for her medical bills but for the months that she will be missing work etc.. My other question is If I do decide to put a lawsuit against Olive Garden and lost, will they still pay for the medical bills(now that we might upset them that we file a lawsuit). When in the first place they have no problem paying just for the medical bills

First timer – Garden maintenance & weeding?

garden maintenance by Gardening in a Minute

Question by sevness: First timer – Garden maintenance & weeding? I have moved into my very first home a few months ago. The backyard was looking great but I have been incredibly busy and finally this weekend I have free time to fix it up. I have already pruned all my grape vines, roses, fruit trees and other things but that was a while ago. I am pretty sure I know what to do and how to do it. But I would like to get some tips and tricks on making my garden look nice and especially the weeding part.

What is the best method of getting a weed out that is coming out the crack of some brick work? What is the best stuff to use that won’t kill my plants but will stop weeds from popping out again any time soon? Watering tips? Tools I should use?

Any extra things would be appreciated.

SPOOKY decorating ideas for my front entrance and front yard!?

Question by : SPOOKY decorating ideas for my front entrance and front yard!? I have a decent sized front yard area…Here’s a diagram.

http://i53.tinypic.com/2d6l4qo.jpg

Between my house (green) and my neighbor’s house (yellow) There’s a large circular gap in front of the fence a few meters away. At night it’s pitch black and you can’t see the fence behind. Someone could probably stand in the center without anyone seeing them. I thought it would be cool to put something there with a dim light beside it. A human-sized plastic figure covered in a black cloth so it looks like someone’s standing there.

The front entrance is covered…so I would be able to hang stuff from the ceiling overtop. Right beside the door to the left (you can see the orange square) there’s a little ‘room’ that a person could just fit into. You can’t see it until you’re right by the door…And even then people probably wouldn’t notice it there.

The green squiggly things are plants in the garden that stretches from the front of the path to the edge of the house (which is 2 stories .

Any ideas? I just thought I’d describe what the houses is like in case you had any specific ideas.

I definitely want the feel of a haunted house. Very old and spooky looking. I don’t want anyone to be popping out at the kids that pass by…so don’t suggest that! :P Any websites that you could give me that have decorating ideas would be fantastic!

Answer by c_schurterOne year we did our entire front yard as a grave yard with tombstones and even one casket. My daughter (who felt she was too old for trick or treating) dressed up as the grim reaper and walked around through the tombstones in an eerie way. We had a strobe light in one corner and scary music playing in the driveway! It was awesome! I don’t know if this would work for you, but wanted to share it. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

How to install landscape timbers for garden edging?

landscape gardens by Beth M527

Question by kth37: How to install landscape timbers for garden edging?

Best answer:

Answer by kayinseptemberMake sure your ground is level, tamp the dirt down, you may have to do some digging. How high you go with the timbers is up to you. Before purchasing the timbers, see that these are also straight and level as they can be. To connect the timbers use spike nails. It will be a day or two job depending on how big your project is
